Biking around Lake Ontario in the fight against cancer.

7 Days In May is a cycling event and fundraiser that was founded in 2012 to increase awareness about pancreatic cancer and to raise funds to help find a cure for this deadly affliction.

About 30 Canadian bicyclists rode from Alexandria Bay to Oswego Tuesday and stopped in Chaumont.

They received $1,300 from groups in Lyme and Cape Vincent.

“After we lost my mom, we were sitting around, talking about how we could continue to fight and what we could do. I had become a road cyclist for a couple of years and we thought it would be nice to create a challenge,” said Gordon Townley, founder of 7 Days in May.

“We’re constantly meeting folks who have themselves been personally affected by pancreas cancer,” said bicyclist Todd Race.

The group has raised $80,000 so far and will end its ride in Toronto on Friday.
